Cosmetic Dentistry Procedures
In this article I will discuss the types of dental veneers commonly used in cosmetic dentistry procedures conducted by Australian cosmetic dentists.
What is the reason that a majority of people seek the aid of cosmetic dentistry?
They want to improve or change their smile.
Dental veneers are a quick and affordable procedure that can give you the smile that you have always dreamed of. No more standing at the back of photos or avoiding smiling at those around you.
Dental veneers can have you enjoying life in a way that you never thought possible.
A Dental Veneer is created by affixing an extremely thin layer to the front of you teeth which totally change the look of your teeth. There is no other procedure necessary and the final result is achieved as soon as the veneers are applied.
Dental veneers are used in cosmetic dentistry to treat a variety of conditions, most commonly:
- Broken teeth,
- Gaps, spacing or crowding of teeth,
- Short or narrow teeth,
- Stained and discoloured teeth.
In some instances, veneers are a quick alternative to braces, avoiding the inconvenience of 2 years of orthodontic treatment.
Treatment with dental veneers is normally very quick - three to four weeks from first visit to your complete new smile.
At Southside dental Implant Centre, as with all our procedures, we start with an initial consultation and assessment. If it is decided to proceed we establish a treatment plan and take impressions of your existing teeth from which we will style your new smile.
Your veneers are then created in the lab and, if you are happy with them, your new veneers can be applied at your next visit. Job done.
There are two types of dental veneers
Porcelain veneers – these provide the longest lasting results and they appear more natural when you smile.
Porcelain veneers are more expensive but because of their longevity are extremely affordable in the longer term. Porcelain veneers are generally recommended where veneers are being applied to more than one or two teeth.
Composite veneers – Initially the most affordable and can be applied during a single visit. These veneers offer less colour choice than porcelain veneers but are matched as closely as possible to the adjoining teeth
Both types of veneer can have a dramatic effect in improving the colour, shape and straightness of your smile.
As always if you are considering cosmetic dental surgery a cosmetic dental surgeon will be able to guide you on the right dental implant for your needs. You will be advised of your options and the right procedure for your needs.
