Recent Advances in Implant Dentistry

As we proceed further into the 21st Century and further into the computer age cosmetic implant dentistry is at the forefront of technological advances which are designed to achieve better, more reliable and consistent results for all aspects of dental implant dentistry.

There is no doubt that cosmetic dentistry implants and cosmetic dentistry procedures have taken a great leap forward in the digital age.

Take the Industry leading NobelClinician software for instance.

NobelClinician has revolutionised the cosmetic implant dentistry surgery of the 21st Century.

The NobelClinician software is a digital tool for diagnostics, treatment planning and overall patient communication.

It allows patient scans to be integrated in the software for identification, mapping and diagnosis of anatomical structures in the mouth – teeth, gaps, jaw etc.

Amazingly it allows the dental implant dentist to see in three dimensions what the mouth will look like post-extraction and to plan for the integration of the dental implants optimising the planning for the best possible result before a physical step is taken.

Importantly NobelClinician allows the dental surgeon to present, plan and explain the entire procedure to their patient.  This gives the patient a greater understanding of the treatment and the overall process.

Cosmetic implant dentistry using the NobelClinician system is a six step process:

  1. Clinical diagnosis and treatment acceptance
  2. The Patient’s condition and needs are evaluated with the use of CBCT or CT scans, intraoral diagnosis and clinical photos.  Options are then discussed and a course of treatment devised.
  3. Digitising the prosthetic information
  4. The software is then used to construct model scans including soft tissue areas and scans of the proposed implant are used to facilitate optimal treatment planning.
  5. Treatment planning with team communication
  6. Using the information provided by NobelClinician a treatment plan is developed and shared with any other dental professionals contributing expertise to the treatment.
  7. Production of surgical template
  8. The treatment plan data is used to produce the surgical template if required
  9. Implant placement (guided/non-guided)
  10. This is where it gets technical.  Your cosmetic dental surgeon may choose between guided pilot drilling only or a fully guided approach, including implant insertion.
  11. Prosthetic design and restoration placement
  12. A restoration using NobelClinician offers design flexibility, precision, passive fit, high material quality and reduced laboratory time.
At Southside Implant Centre we extensively use NobelClinician because we know that Cosmetic implant dentistry is all about ensuring that the patient receives the most suitable dental implant for functionality and longevity as well as appearance.
